Announcement of special invited lecture at the 70th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy

Professor Toshio Miyata at Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine (Chairman and President of our company) gave a special invited lecture at the 70th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy (June 27-29, 2025, Venue: Osaka International Convention Center). In this lecture, he talked on the various possible clinical applications of the PAI-1 inhibitor RS5614, which is currently under development, and the latest research results on programmed medical devices that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to support safe and secure maintenance hemodialysis.

Regarding the usefulness of RS5614 against cancer and lung disorders, the progress and future plans of investigator-initiated clinical trials targeting “chronic myeloid leukemia,” “malignant melanoma,” “lung cancer,” “angiosarcoma,” and “lung disorders associated with systemic sclerosis” were reported. Regarding the usefulness of RS5614 against aging, the XPRIZE Healthspan initiative and plans for “clinical research using RS5614 targeting immune, muscle, and cognitive functions” were reported. In addition, the importance of collaboration between academia, industry, and government toward solving the problems of a super-aging society and specific efforts were introduced.

Regarding the program medical device for hemodialysis support, the results of clinical performance tests conducted for approval application were reported. In addition, a promotional video for this program medical device, supported by Nipro Corporation, a joint research partner, was released.
